That's interesting, I thought mine had been butchered because of the little triangle cut out, I guess not. Thing is, I can't work out what the cut-outs are actually meant to be accomodating?

A couple of those pictures show the insulation upside down. The triangular cutout is for the wiper motor and the rectangular one for the master cylinders.

How does the wiper washer bottle interact with the insulation? Does the bracket screw through the insulation onto the firewall or?

You can just make out the outline of the bracket in this photo.

gtogreen1969 is the vinyl grain shown in the above photo of the under bonnet fire wall sound proofing the same as the boot board vinyl on your Cooper S.? or is there a noticeable difference.
Cheers.

That was ausdinos firewall mat. Maybe he can compare it to his boot board. My car had a resto about 20 years ago and those were replaced on my car.

Ok. Cheers for that.
Would you think they may have been the same? and have you seen the finer vinyl patten firewall mat which was used as well?

I'll have a look later tonight for you and post a pic. I have the original boot board.

I have seen some cars with a smooth vinyl firewall mat. I don't know if these are original or at what point they were fitted. Some MK1 S's also have a flap cut out for the ID plate.

I thought he was asking about the board that goes between the tanks.
