Ok I didn’t know they were closer to the edge on the 1970 model. I’ve been rubbing away at the position where marked for the 1969 model. Thought they were all there. Cheers for that GTO, I’ll get onto that. Much appreciated.

Not sure winabbey. From everything I’ve read they stopped the gutter stanmping early to mid 70. This is only going by my own research so don’t take it as gospel. There seems to be a lot or iregalities regarding numbers. I’ve heard they weren’t the best with protocols on stamping identification back then with wrong stamp numbers and many miss hits as can be seen in some photos over the years.

I believe the changeover from gutter to firewall was between Apr and June 1970. Not sure about the change back as 2668 is the only later car that mentions the gutter. Looks like I have to hit up some late 70S - 71S owners and see what they have.

Cars before 4/1970 YG2S4 1866 are in the gutter.

Cars after 6/1970 YG2S4 2070 are on the firewall except 2668.

edit. Updated the car numbers

Does your car have the beehive heater? They used it from 10/70 to 12/70.

Ok thanks. As there were not many Mk2 Ss that had the beehive heaters installed at the factory i dont have any photos of the way they were mounted. I was told that some had the 2 x J brackets bent or cut off and 3 x captive nuts installed into the lower firewall. Any info would be appreciated. I will send you a PM anyway. Cheers

Rob also mentioned that mine should have the metal master cylinders and not the plastic ones it has and yes the 4 was stamped separately
Sixes and nines are the same stamp inverted The gutter stamping is all small and quite neat
