Hi all,
New to the forum. Can anyone tell me what is the largest size wheels that can be legally fitted to a mini in Australia. I know the rover sports-pack runs 13X6 with 175/50 tires so that must satisfy the legal wheel track requirement. So exactly how much larger can you go?.......... And where can you find the wheel track specs for a sportspack mini anyway, I cant find it in Haynes manuals !

The common 13x7 wheels fitted to minis aren't actually legal due to the offset (usually -7mm) being too far out from the Sportspack (22mm).I suspect many of the aftermarket 13x6s also have offsets too low to be under the maximum 25mm track increase, but none of that seems to stop anyone...

I suggest that you refer to the Dept of Motor Transport in your state to see what is actually legal. From memory, in Qld you can increase the track each side by 25mm but cannot decrease the track at all. I don’t recall any restriction on wheel diameter (10, 12 or 13) but obviously this is dictated by rolling circumference, body clearance etc.

The NSW guide to fitting different wheels is here:
http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents/roa ... 9-rev4.pdf
More general advice here:
http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents/roa ... ations.pdf

You also need to figure out whether the wheel specs for a UK made 1990's mini apply to a 1961-1978 Australian mini?
