Anyone running one? Did you make it yourself or buy the KAD kit?

Yes. Mine is standard rod change base with KAD kit. Goes straight through the 850 pudding stirrer hole in floorpan. The KAD kit internal mounting bracket is designed for UK MK 4 floorpan so you need to add brackets to properly fit Aus floorpan.

Once adjusted it is pretty good. It was jumping out of gear on the rough ground in the motorkhana, but that never happens on smooth tarmac. Would need rigid engine mounts and steadies to fully prevent it on rough ground i think.

If I'm carrying on like a pork-chop, I'm having a great time.

If I go very quiet there's a very good chance I broke something.

Cos insurance will void you for a loose rearvision mirror if they could. Good to know.

Has anyone put one of these in a moke? Or made one as a diy?

Back in the day a UK company called SPQR made an internal conversion for magic wand gearboxes, you can see more photos in the link here: http://www.mini-house.com/SPQR001.htm

Any reason you’d want to modify the remote shifter?

I’m sure you could modify the rod change style to fit a Moke, as long as the bracket is secure to the floor and the shifting rod is the right length. You can see a homemade one here:

Ah that's the infamous puddin' stirrer gearshift, not to be confused with the 850's magic wand. ;)
