Just cleaning up the firewall in my 1974 Clubman and found the numbers 7560 with M2 under and 21 under that all on the drivers side of the hole in the middle. Has done a number of searches, but all information seems to relate to earlier model cars. The number stamped on the radiator shroud is the same as the compliance plate, but the above numbers do not appear in sequence on the compliance plate. Just wondering what they mean if anything.

M2/21 is the build code for the standard Clubman and Leyland Mini. Mini S is M2/22. Clubman GT is M2/23. The body number stamped with the build code has nothing to do with the actual cars chassis number.

The chassis number is stamped into the radiator support panel. It would start with 021 then have a series of numbers and letters depending on the year of manufacture before the engine size M10 or M09 then then final car number on the end. This stamped set of numbers and letters will match the ADR compliance plate.

Thanks gto, they appeared from under numerous coats of paint and did not expect anything there, seems like there is something every time I remove a bit more paint, mostly rust.
