How long will the motor last if the oil way mods and the oil pump spacer were not done?

If you don't do it you will have NO oil flow into the engine.
There is no oil way drilled for the pump outlet- auto pumps have a dirty big exit pipe behind the torque converter instead
. Oil goes down to the autobox, then back UP the banjo pipe into the motor.

The spacer is needed because the pump recess on the auto block is 1/4" deeper than a manual one.

You guys talking about Pedr Davis' Spotlight book? I bought that book yonks ago, had more errors than facts (not really).

Is there a corrected edition available?

It's Peter, not Pedr Davis.

I was one of many who contributed information for the book. Since publication I've provided Peter with corrections and suggested changes, most of which have been adopted I understand. A reprint is on the way as all first editions have been sold.

I've mentioned to him the possibility of marque specific versions, such as a Mini and Moke document with only the data from the book that applies to those cars. I think Mini enthusiasts would be more likely to buy a condensed version rather than the full 290 page book.

I've emailed Peter re our current discussion. Will let you all know after we chat.

This book is like the Terry Bebbington’s 40,50,60 years of Holden books which I have and should be left as is cause its to do with bmc/leyland as a company with all there products in one book like the Holden one

Maybe the car models could have there own chapter like in the Holden one

Wonder If the people who brought the first copy could some how get the corrections and suggested changes that will be printed in the new copy from peter Davis or the book publisher

My understanding is the re-print is happening soon so they may be taking orders in anticipation. I don't know. I'll ask Peter when we talk.

12 - 1275
H - transverse
269 = Yd, Td, Ub, Pf, Kf, Sf, Ne
Mechanical fuel pump -Yd
Twin carb - Td
C40 dynamo - Ub
?? - Pf
?? - Kf
Carb crankcase ventilation - Sf
?? - Ne
There are a couple of codes I can’t find the meaning of, hopefully that narrows it down slightly

There are a couple of codes I can’t find the meaning of, hopefully that narrows it down slightly

I can add one code:
Pf = Pre-engaged starter (when not normally fitted)
B = Positive crankcase ventilation

Seems as though it would be from the early 1970's with the C40 dynamo but its an odd spec. with a pre-engaged starter motor.

In the UK our 1275 automatics were only fitted to ADO16's at this time but so far as I can recall they all had the single HS4 carbie.
