I have colour cards but I doubt the colour on the chip is accurate after all this time. I would try to find someone with a Jet Red car and then beg or bribe them to take the number plate flap into a paint shop to be matched for you.

Or just ask on here if anyone has the correct formula by starting a new thread with Jet Red in the heading.

I agree that these colour chips are, at least on my screen, a poor representation of the original colour.
Camino Gold, Sugar Cane, Crystal White, Gambier Turquiose do look so dull and lifeless.
They could not as be used for mixing new paint but they do remind us that there was time when cars were colourful and were not just 50 shades of grey (met).

I have seen jet red look orangy but my Mk2 S which had its original paint , I bought the car from the original owner , looked red so there maybe more than 1 jet red !

Seems to be some confusion, the color is mixed to the original formula remember 2 pack paint will better than original also the primers are different. I have experience in this area. If you want to use acrylic lacquer get the cave men to paint it.

This is Mick's restoration project for his monotone Jet Red MK II S. I haven't searched the 41 pages but there may be a clue as to how he sourced the paint for the respray. You could also send him a PM.

Edit: Around pages 18-19 he's getting the car sprayed.

Micks car is a beautiful thing!! 8)

The floors, especially in the rear of my Jet Red Mk2 S are in excellent original condition with a great clean example of the original Jet Red paint.

I will get some pics up today but if this can be used to help match up the colour for anybody I'm more than happy too....

Im just not sure the best way too as the car is stripped and would be kinda hard to get it to the paint shop for a colour scan/match...

Regards,

Mark

Cheers for that idea, mine also has a pretty good match in the floor, back seat and some door frames. I'm thinking of using this unmolested door frame part as my match...

You should paint it camino every one paints here mini red lol unfortunately the paints have changed so much since your car came out no lead in the paint and 2pak is shiner than the original stuff so a colour match is probably the only option now

My S was sapphire blue but was repainted white by a previous owner. The only sample of original colour was on the dash rail where it was covered
So off I went and got two samples off colour They were far too grey .So the painter wouldnt allow me to paint it red :P So I went ppg and found the colour in UK colours pretty well right.Five hundred big ones for four litres of 2K solid

Many times over different days, but don't you hate it when a person tells what colour to paint your car

I would be wrapped if mine was Camino gold, it’s a beautiful colour that grows on you. I’m okay with red, it’s its birth colour...

My understanding is the formula is right but the modern tints are different. So the output colour is different. I could be wrong though....

I guess I’m a fussy bugger and i’d Like it to be pretty close!

Or you could treat it like snip snip and bobs your auntie and go gold
