Well said Watto.

Please share sports850man (Name with-held also : I don't know why you want it kept a secret though?)

This may help: I was given a copy of this a while ago when looking at buying a 9/61 850.

Sports850man.

People want to know where the figure of 3449 comes from?

I'm not convinced the 9 means CKD.

I would like to see the BMC Standards or the proof.

I'm not saying it is wrong, just that I'm not convinced it is right.

There is a new book coming out from the BMC-Leyland Australia Heritage Group all about the identifying info on ID plates, etc. Maybe that will clear it all up.

Your correct 9 does mean 1959 body shell in English minis. But 9\ here means English body shell. Very early 1961 850s used 59,60 & 61 some body panels & parts.

Thanks

Sports850man

9 does not mean English body shell.
Morris Majors and Austin Lancers had locally stamped panels with full Australian manufacture and they had the 9 on the ID plate. (or an 8 the year before) so the 9 quite clearly does not mean CKD or English body shell.

A good list Brenton. Seems to support the number of 31,501 CKD cars.

As good as the list is, though, it doesn't have any authority as we don't know where it came from.

Let's see what you've got S850M

Yes. As soon as we have it available, which should be later this year. They are still trying to nut out the final bit of the Morris Minor ID plates which are doing their heads a little bit.

Of particular interest, they need to know what all the letter codes for the colours are. If anyone here has a list of those it would be helpful.

Cheers,
Watto.

I have a colour list of sorts, it doesn't quite match all the Australian stuff though....

thanks M1100.

I will pass this on, although I think the Australian stuff is different.

Cheers,
Watto.
