The boot is part number 14A6860 and it helps keep the dust out of the car

Thanks Timmy. I got one of those plus part 22A419 which I think goes onto the gearbox where the wand bolts on. Not sure if I need both but I figure it can't hurt.

Yes I think you need both. I’ve just bought the 22A419 and can show you how well it fits. I’m hoping it’ll reduce the vibration through the gear stick

Edit: here’s a photo of it installed. It’s not a super tight fit so easy enough to fit from inside the car. I have also installed an extra bush to stop the vibrations - I’ll test it out first and then show you what I did

I was wondering if there was supposed to be another boot to cover that section. I've been trying to bodgie something up but haven't had much success. I'm just wondering though if mine is different though as it has a sort of U shaped bracket that supports the ball at end of the gear stick - cant quite see how this would fit.

I think yours is the 4 synchro type rather than the 850 type? - so there is a different bush 22A1380
