Would anybody have a photo of an original Inner gear lever gaiter AYG3084 (not the outer large gaiter which is visible from inside the car).
This is item is not shown in my parts manual.

This rings a bell, and I think I was told it was similar, if not the same as the CV boot. I’ve used it on my remote shifter

I was wondering if it's the same or similar as part number 22A419 re a inner gaiter that's listed.

Thank's cgo for the forum topic site

Mine boot is the same as in Bill B's photo so am I correct in saying - that is the original inner rubber boot for the Mk 2 Cooper S gear lever?
Like Doug's mine was in very good order also and cleaned up a treat.

I am confused after reading this and associated threads.
All these parts are supposed to fit the lower remote gear stick. Which one is true?
AYG3084
22A419
GSV1073
HYL699
BHM7012

There's the original part designed for this specific application, and there's alternative parts that will fit although originally designed for a different application. As the original part is no longer available new the alternative part is used.

Add to that part number supersessions over time and you end up with several part numbers, as you observed.

AYG3084 is the original Australian part for the inner boot of the remote change gear lever. Appears to be no longer available new.

22A419 is the rubber boot for the base of the magic wand gear change lever, so not relevant for remote change.

GSV1073 and BHM7012 are the same part - pot joint boot kit. This is what is supplied if you need a new one.

Where did part HYL699 come from?

Yes. The photo in my original post is of the gear lever parts from my 8/70 S. My K also has the same boot.

I suffer the same symptom, and more often than in my earlier years. :)

I suffer from CRAFT.

Anyhoo, John Smidt parts book lists GSV1073 for both the inner pot joint boot and also the gear lever boot.
