Sorry, you're right. I've got an old Mini Kingdom parts catalogue and it doesn't show the front number plate mount.

As is common with some of the BMC publications the image of that part on this page from the Mini K parts book is not accurate, but the part number is correct.

Having incorrect drawings doesn't help. You can see on page RF-3 of PUB1056M that the image is of a Morris 1100 door, not Mini. Presumably a line drawing of the Oz wind-up window door was not available at that time, or they didn't notice the error.

I verified the HYA3896 part number in John Smidt's personal part number cross-reference database.
