The car has the stalk with the green light on the end.
Can anyone tell me how the earth is made for the globe on the end of the stalk.
The globe holder sits down on a raised ledge about 3/4 of the way down the black plastic part of the knob and is nowhere near the metal part of the stalk. Besides the globe fitting has a plastic piston that moves under spring tension so it cant earth out on the metal stalk. I am stumped

The earth is through the bulb holder and into the body of the stalk. The red power wire goes up through the stalk tube and goes to the bottom contact of the bulb holder

Timmy Thanks for the reply. E;ectrically makes sense. Does the earth wire terminate inside the tube with bare wires relying on contact the tube? The bulb holder is a tight fit inside the plastic bezel so I cant bring an earth from the bulb holder . Could solder it to one of the lugs that folds over the insulating washer at the base of the holder though.

There’s a few different types I’ve seen. This type has a spring between the bulb holder and stalk. The black plastic piece is installed first, then the wire is red down the hollow stalk and the bulb holder clips into the black end

I can get some better photos later if you need

Thats the same as I have . The spring is the missing bit on mine. Big thanks for all your info . By the way I have rebuilt a few over the past 60 years but not seen this bulb holder before. Meanwhile I have wired a naked earth wire off one of the 3 lugs at the bottom of the holder down the stalk and earthed it on one of the screws that holds the contacts plate. It works
Thanks again
