Have you taken the bulbs out and tried the wiring again just to confirm it is the panel/warning lights that are causing the problem (being careful to not create a short in the bulb holder with a loose centre terminal)? |

Tube or sleeve, but not ring. |

Normally fitted to the newer type looms and globe holders. |

Looking at my new loom, it appears the dash lighting has 3 bulb types. It would be good to know the part numbers. There are 2 blinker repeater bulbs, 1 ignition bulb and 2 panel lights and 1 high beam. NB non of the new fittings will accept the original screw in bulbs which I have been collecting, so they are useless. Also the 2 gauge bulbs. |

Ask Vintage Wiring Harnesses what the part number/s for the suitable bulbs are. Alternatively, ask them for the industry recognised designations for the bulb holders are, and the associated wattages for each. Put your now useless bulbs on eBay and flog them off to grateful users. |

I have previously given you the information of the globe type as installed in the rear of the speedo casing (as sourced from the Minisport ADL website). As for the indicator repeaters, this comes from the same source. "[GLB47281] These globes go into the side indicators on the dash as fitted to the MINI K or Mk2 Cooper S (Green indicator illumination). Specs:Input range: 12VPower: 2WSize: 6.5mm wide x21mmBase Type: BA7S T-6.5mm". 47281 means you can eyeball them in a blister pack at a Narva stockist. I have pulled apart one of my spare lampholders to verify. As for the bulbs in the gauges these are those that you have in plenty. Not one of the spare parts catalogues I have from vendors in decades past have any useful information. My Driver's Manual AKD3891 is best but the bulb designators tend to be quite archaic, and added prefixes tend to instill confusion. |

the dash lighting is on a separate circuit to the headlights anyway - it's the red wire that goes to the parkers and tail lights - not the blue wires |

I now have all the dash Narva bulbs and will see if they all work. Have ordered new light switch because the new switch I was using got hot. |

I made up my own stand alone headlight wiring loom today, so the headlights are not within the cars loom. This made no difference to dip switch (all wires used) or the light switch (only 2 wires) or the earth wires, they all started to get hot. The dip switch is new. The headlight switch is a new Lucas branded one. The two headlight looms are new from Karcraft. This means my new loom is not responsible for my heating earth wires etc. Still the mistery continues. |
