Just looked at a leyland mini which has these handles. They looked like they fit well so does someone recognise them. Could be something random

Standard Leyland Mini interior handles used from 1971 on. Also late 1971 Mk2 Cooper S etc.
Won't fit early doors.

Is that just what is behind the black plastic? I haven't pulled any apart yet and assumed it was all one black plastic piece.

Sorry I meant the whole thing. I'm not sure about the metal handle bit now looking again. I don't have one to compare..

Looks like to me someone has used a standard chubby outer and modified with a different release handle

Got it with me now and they are 100% some other handle riveted in. Still not sure what from, there was a ford window winder in the door pocket. My Dad has gone thru all the common vehicles that were around where it was located and none match (he worked at the wrecker)

They look similar to 70/80’s Mazda interior door handles (323, 626, RX7 etc)

That could be what it is. I have now asked a friend who knows stuff about those types of cars. Ford had also been suggested, the type which happen to be made by Mazda.

Looks like an early 90s Hilux or Starlet handle (same handle used on both) grafter to the clubby steel bit.

They look a bit like Chrysler Sigma or Galant.
As others have said, they do appear to be Japanese and they all look very similar back then
