Hi All,
My trusty Lucas timing light gave up on me last week - that is to say I broke it.
What is the go to for a replacement for the Classic mini these days?
Something with dial back and possibly dwell angle measurement.
I know I have seen recommendations in the past but cant find them.
Thanks

I use the Innova 5568 and it costs around $150. There is a 3568 as well for $100 but it has less options.

Defo get a dial back, dwell may be useful if you dont have other dwell meters. Not sure what brand mine is but it is not dwell 9nly dial back. Will look when shed is not an oven, mid next week?

There aren't really many options other than the Innova 5568 or one of its rebrands. I ordered one as another brand, the box actually said Innova. When I opened it the timing light itself says Toolpro (SCA).

Found the Innova 5568 on line - looks to be about $300 for the genuine Innova.

There are several "replicas" available like the Equus which is around $150 on Ebay. - Advertised as the Innova Equus but is similar but different.

I am tempted to go with the "replica" as it is only for occasional use.

Any views or recommendations on the cheaper options?

I have the Innova 3568 which is around the $100 range. The only features it doesn’t have compared to the 5568 is dwell and voltage, but that’s not really necessary if you have electronic ignition (you can also buy a multimeter that does dwell or a dwell meter)

I believe all those timing lights which look the same are identical. That's why I went on eBay and bought the cheapest one like it.

Saving a little bit you could buy from one of these options:

Onlineautoparts - I think there is a discount if you sign up too.

Ebay - both these listings allow you to use an ebay discount code to take $10 off the price.

I have no experience with those eBay sellers but Onlineautoparts send out quickly.

I just noticed your amazon listing is being sold by them. You'll get it cheaper from their website.

Interesting, the Amazon one and OnlineAutoparts one look to have two different faces.
The Amozon one is clearly branded as Innova, while the other is not so obvious.
Regardless, I ordered the Amazon one.
Thanks all for your input.

Amazon uses "generic" pictures for each item. The same item can be sold by many sellers all over the world. The Amazon one is coming from onlineautoparts so you'll get the same thing as the onlineautoparts website.

I've had a couple of the $100 equus enova ones. Work great.
A sure way to kill them though is put the + lead onto the - side of the coil by mistake. As a mate did (he bought me another).
Safer to connect it elsewhere...!
