I agree that the white LED is a bit bright, but I feel like it’s an acceptable trade off to be seen in modern traffic with inattentive drivers

Yes, agreed. Means I can now drive without having my headlights on during the day and still be highly visible.

I bought some red rear LEDs, they don't work unless I push the bulb sideways.
Into the bin..

That may be that the holder is worn and the contacts have deformed or are sticking in the down position.

I tried them in the Jeep Cherokee too, same story. No worky. Might work with aluminium foil around them but I don't want them that badly. Body is probably 1.5mm smaller the a regular 21/5w bulb.

Yep that"ll do it every time. Nothing like having to alter a brand new part to make it fit, NOT.
