Gentlemen & others 8)

Anyone know of an alternative crank which will fit a 1275 Cooper S block (AEG312) ?

I'm a poor pensioner & can't afford the real McCoy :P

Any sale/donation of an EN40B in usable condition would be gratefully accepted!

Cheers

Pete

Small journal Morris 1100S fits, but you need thicker thrust washers as the journal is 1/32" wider. Use +0.030" ones and get the steel backing surface ground to fit.

I run the opposite- a Mk1 S EN40B crank in a Morris 1300 auto block. With thinned standard thrusts.

Get any used 1275 crank crack tested before parting with $$$, there are heaps of bad ones about.

The early Morris 1100 S's had the cast AEG 315 crank being the same as the early non-cross-drilled Cooper S forgings. A different part # was issued (12G1288) for its run having a narrower centre main width. The use of this crank within a 312 block will therefore necesitate the use of 0.030" thrust washers.

The 315 run was limited to the first 10,000 or so Morris 1100 S blocks before being superseded by the 1505A.

1505 crank was the big journal crank, from around 12YDTaH 10500, all the early and later1100S blocks whether thick or thin flange have the same journal width as the later ones. 1/32" wider than Cooper S block.
I just built an early thin flange 1100S block (was small journal crank) with a brand new Rover big journal crank and late 1100S rods. Standard thrust washers.
Because.... we couldn't find an uncracked 1100S or Cooper S crank!!
New crank from minisport UK. $750 landed, a couple of years, ago.
