Actually after the initial posting of this thread I went and did a little research on how to enter the Targa. It's just TOO much money!

Firstly you have to have a near stock car or enter the modifies class which has heavy restrictions. Secondly it's got to be an IMMACULATE car that is a good representation of the model during it's hay day. Thirdly you can forget entering the Deluxe or K because they just won't accept it. It's quite a stringent criteria for selection where only S's will do.

So let me see:

Entrance fee $10,000??
Racing gear, helmets, roll cages, spares, tyres $5000? $10,000?
Immaculate near stock Cooper S with period accessories $20,000??

Wow that's a lot of money for a fang around tassie for a few days!!! :(

That said, anyone want to sponsor Dr Mini and I? Donate to the Dr Mini and 68Delux Targa Tasmania Fund

Then ya got to go and get your appropriate level of CAM's license and that is at LEAST $600 i think, and several days training??

About the cars, i read that you gotta pay a 1100 application fee, and then the people decide if your car is a 'desirable' car to be entered, and if it isnt well you dont get your cash back.

It certainly isnt for any ordinary person to do, ever maybe

I have already put in my leave form for the days off work :D :D

Two of my mates are running this year again in a R33 GTR Skyline... Its an absolute beast... Andrew had it on the dyno last week and it was putting out 280kw at the wheels... Went to a hill-climb up at Lake Barrington a few weeks ago with them and lets just say I am pleased I had my brown undies on... First time I have cracked the double-ton...

Will have plenty of film for the SLR, and my 300 lens, so you will be seeing some photos I assure you...

Big Dan
