Anybody know the paint colour code for the light green engine paint used on MK2 S?

I've got a black 1293 to go in the new baby, it needs paint.. 8)

Doogie posted a response on MCC_NSW chat recently about this. I can't remember if he mentioned the genuine colour, but he recommended a brand of Hammertone type paint available at places like bunnings. The colour I think was Alpine Green. He mentioned he had painted his engines this colour and it was very close to original.

Maybe buy 1 can as a trial on another block or object, or PM him on here (2 S' and a clubman or something like that).

:) Mitsubishi Frost Green is a very good match. Its marginally darker but after 35 years is anyone really able to tell the difference? One of the Sydney mini specialists (cant remember who - KRAFT disease?) sells the correct colour but I think the minimum size is a litre.

I found Bobtel bought 4? litres recently to do an S and probably has 1/2 it left. So I'll twist his arm first. 8)

Geoff Hugenberger, lives down (for you at least) at Camden buys and sells lots of Cooper S's (I bought mine off him) and he has the exact colour that he gets made up into spray cans for when he's building engines. Give him a call on 0408 622 801, I'm sure he won't mind

I think it's Alpine Green in a spray can from Bunnings. Don't know the manufacturer, but pretty sure about the name.

You might be accepted with an engine that colour Kev...

yeah that's the one. I've got an old can I did my first S motor with but that was 9 years ago.. it's a bit hard to spray, or brush.. where's that trowel??
Can't read the code on the can now though.

I think the one sg got was a bit different (brighter) shade. Mine pretty well matches the original paint on the MK2 S block I had.
There are a lot of paints used these days to do motors for `originality' but some are brighter or darker than others.
