Ive asked this on other forums, and most say forced induction. But i thought id ask you guys which youd prefer in terms of mini engines.

Which would you prefer?

I personally plan to build a turbo motor, although building a nuts N/A motor is still very tempting :P

Ok, thanks for that.
Building a nuts NA motor would be the way that I would go about it.
Would be awesome to have a blown engine.

I like rude N/A motors. Less stuffing around, less things to go wrong, more bits available.

Turbo is more likely to bust gearboxes.

Injected just doesn't work for high power on a Mini- you can get more gee gees with carbs..
<edit> unless you are talking NITROUS injection... :P

If you ignore my name for one moment, I agree with drmini here.

Whats more, you'll end up with a less cluttered engine bay - easier access when something should go wrong....

like maybe changing a fan belt on my car - gotta remove the charger to do that...

replacing lower radiator hoses - gotta remove the charger...

tightening manifold nuts - you guessed it, take the charger out....

....oh.... and i've seen crazy NA's make turbos look like trolleys.....

My friends old school Honda CRX has a NON-VTEC motor that revs to 8000rpm, pulling very hard all the way there.... (yes, i know it aint an a-series, but it isnt modified either....) if only i could put one of those in a mini....

You CAN make an A series pull hard to 8000, but they just don't last if you make a habit of doing it.. I limit mine to 7500 on the track now, and 6500-7000 on the road..

i can see how the charger would be such a pain in the ass

i think a turbo would ahve less hassles though int erms of removal etc...

altho i do agree with kevin.......if i end up going turbo im worried about my box :(

I miss the old Roadrunner myself. Mighta looked as ugly as sin, but by god could those old fuel guzzlers tear up bitumen :-)

Oh, and my mates '35 Chev. A 2 ton car pulling 12.4's on street tyres. Pretty damn scary sitting behind a tunnel ram, with suicide doors on the car and a 4 inch high windscreen.

Hmmmm, tunnel ram on a mini? The mind boggles

turbo's and carby fed motors dont mix in my opinion. at the end of the day you need fuel injection with your turbo to maximise the power that it's making.
just my 2 cents

i dont think thats neccessarily the case......

the problem is delivering enough fuel to the motor to stop it leanign out. In injection its much easier to do and control. Aftermarket management, bigger injectors and a bigger pump are about all you need to upgrade your system.

Its much harder to control on a carby motor, but if you have the right setup thwere shouldnt be any reason why it cant be just as good.
