I got all my bits n pieces back from the engineers 2day, it all looks good. Will have to take the backing plates back in and get some more milled of the face to clear the caliper, also need to get the rotor to flange mounting screw holes countersunk in the rotor........

Obviously it didnt help that i wrote a full page of instructions for them to follow....

Anyways, to Water Jet cut the 2 backing plates, machine the 2 drive flange faces, Redrill the PCD for the 2 rotors and turn up 2 alloy spacers, the GRAND TOTAL of $451......

Brake conversion so far:

2 new RDA Rotors: $88
2 2nd hand calipers: $110
Machine work: $451

Total: $649 so far...........Starting to get expensive.....Yes i could get stock Mini brakes for the same price....

Still to come, pads, caliper kits and powder coating of calipers and backing plates.

Heres some pics:

Using a 25mm spacer, the track of the car will be the same as a Cooper S.

they will be awesome when you finish them. having all the machining done by a pro anyone would have a hard time doubting the quality and safety of the set up. It may cost the same as a crap second hand set but they will be brand new.

Ok, so i got the engineers to fix up a couple of things with my bits and pieces, free of charge of course!!!

Pulled the RHS of my brakes off 2nite to do a dummy fit up b4 everything gets sent for powder coating.

Guess wat....... It looks like it all fits.....

Dummied up on the bench, I fitted 2 1/4in UNF allen head bolts which go through the spacer, then through the rotor and then into the drive flange to keep it all together.. Seems to work well.

Obviously it has to be powdercoated black......

Like i said, the backing plate has to be powdercoated black, and the calipers will be red obviously!!!! Still a bloody tight fit around the caliper and the inner step of the rim. Clears by about 3mm.....!!!!

Drums baby drums....... Its a 1330cc The drums had all new shoes/cylinders springs so it still stopped very well. Its not like the thing was getting punted around a race track, its only used to dordle into town every now and then.
