i know there was a topic posted a few days ago about this, but this is a bit different.. i was driving home yesterday and came flying into my street chasing after a mate, and i think.. cause the road was pretty bumpy, mini just about got airborne, im pretty sure the ALT light came on pretty much straight after..

ive checked all the conections, fuses, pulled the dash out and it all seems fine.. i had the alternator rebuilt about 6-12 months ago.. but ill check the voltage output this arvo..

anyone had a similar problem?

thanks :?

If light comes on and stays on, usually it's the brushes worn out, or a wire has come off the voltage regulator which on most Lucas alternators, is inside the plastic end cover.
Or the voltage reg is ****..

Shouldn't happen after only 12 months though.

Check the brown wires are on the starter solenoid, not fallen off.

If all else fails, pull it off and get it tested at an aulo leccy.

Might wanna check your battery and earth strap connections as well. Generally I find if the brushes are wearing out, ya have a faint alt light come on before it craps out entirely.
