I think both of my plastic brake and clutch fluid reservoirs are cracked, or at least leaking in some way. I know they don't make them new anymore, so what's the best way to fix them? Is it just worth buying new master cylinders with tin tanks? This is for a mini I intend to keep for ages, so I want it done right, if you know what I mean. Nothing too dodge.

Nothing dodgey about Tin Tanks just a little less volume....get hold of some replacements and get them sleeved and an overhaul kit put through them ....hey!! get them chromed up ya have more bling!

I suppose if I get the larger tin tank models, it should be hunky dory. Has anybody thought of fashioning some kind of tin tank that screws in the way the plastic tanks do?

Don't the Tin one's line up with the same holes? I also thought you could buy plastic ones still new? I just got a new plastic clutch master cylinder from Karcraft..:?

Josh, he's talking about the old Lockheed/PBR ones with the plastic tank & big screwtop lid. NLA.

The latest ones do have a plastic tank, it goes around the cylinder, sort-of like the old tin ones. At least they are new, so will last for years!

Thanks Doc, I did mean the old Lockheed/PBR ones. I'll probably just end up getting tin tanks.

Thanks, but I think I've fixed the problem. I found a few tiny (TINY tiny) cracks which I patched up with Aryldite. I then just cleaned the connection between the plastic tanks and the master cylinders and made sure they were screwed in a little tighter. I also fiddled with the rubber inserts a little to make them fit tighter. Hasn't leaked since.
