I was told today buy a Sydney Mini 'specialist' that late 850's had one piece roof lining and wind up windows.

Redmund (the ex kev 850) has a one piece roof lining and wind up windows.

If they had wind up windows they should have deluxe style door catches on the b pillar.... and i haven't seen one.

Have a look in the book "Mini's down under", I think there is a photo and reference to wind-up window kits - they look pretty disgusting I have to say.

Lot's of weird stuff happened at the factory that was never documented.
Such as the change over models had bits of both cars...

steve... well there goes the last brain cell ...:) well worth it tho :)

i'm a bit sceptical about self-touted "specialists"

basically announcing that they know nothing about anything else

;)

Better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I agree Mr Worx......BMC did some weird sh!t during model crossovers.

Late 'K's had clubby style door handles.

As a mini dealer i must say that i'm still learning. I don't pretend to know everything. And people will object to some things that i do say. But without documented history you will have confrontation.
A customer/friend of ours tells stories about develpoment of the cars at bmc and some of it doesn't fit in with mini history.
Such as fibreglass/plastic minis.... in the 60's . but they exploded in crash testing.

Oz 850s were still made up until 66-67, these had windups and were badged `Morris Mini Minor'.
Gov't dep'ts took a bunch of them.

The one piece headliner came in in `64. My 850 had one, was original- the pattern matched the sun visors.
But the doors... in 64 we had yet to get windups. Someone swapped them.

I believe the pull cords were a "period accessory" but were not too common, especially here in Oz. Its easy to make your own (and I did  ) but nothing looks as good as the originals. 8)

Now we wait for all the newbies to start asking.... "..pullcords??"
