The AKFPD19Y part of your VIN means that it was once a 1275 Moke, and it should have had disc brakes. It would also be a galv body, being that late. Also, it looks like a 1275 head on the engine, going by the angle of the heater tap. I paid $500 for my 80 model galv 1275 + discs Moke 12 mths ago. Needs work thou, bit rougher than yours. Steve

GVM = Gross Vehicle Mass = Mass of vehicle + Mass of load = Moke + 2 Blokes (80kg each) + esky full of beer :D

nice moke. i would get it, but i already have a motorbike for that open air feeling  I had a great time one night in the middle of winter in my mates moke driving accross the bridge with no shirts on and beer in hand, he had put an extra seat in the back to make it a 3 seater. top fun. hope whover gets it has as much fun as we did :)

The starter looks like a Gemini one, and the alternator looks like a Nissan unit. Common mods.

It is probably a Californian too, which adds to it's value. Are the seats there? If so, do they tilt forward and adjust forward and back?

I'll say it again - great find! 8)

I thought the starter might have been gemini - wasn't sure about the alt. - not mods I expected on an ex line marker

no, there are no seats unfortunately... my mate said the bullbar is californian. Given it's an '81 model, there must've been seatbelts, how would they have mounted them from the factory? there don't seem to be any mounting points at all. Also, the brackets for the cloth top are in place, but there aren't any obvious points where a roll bar would have been mounted.... was a roll bar standard on californians?

Not all Californians had rollbars, they were optional. If it had one which has been removed, there will be holes left behind. Check near the removable cover above the battery and on the top of the rear guards.

The seat belts when no roll bar was fitted were lap belts only. One hard stop and LOOK MUM NO FACE!!! :(

You should find seatbelt mounting points on the inner sills and centre tunnel in similar places to a Mini. There will also be belt mountings in the rear floor and wheel arches for the rear belts.

BTW, chassis number AKFPD19Y is a standard Moke. It seems someone has tarted it up with the Cal bumpers.

You do have at least one seat there - that thing that looks like a frame for a deck chair with no adjustment is actually a standard Moke seat. It's just missing the canvas/vynil parts streched over the frame. I refuse to call it upholstery!!

the moke got put on a truck to melbourne about half an hour ago, it's all alone on the back of the truck, so if any melbourne bods want to go wave to it, go to the hume near cragieburn in about 2 1/4 hours... the truck driver reckoned it was one of the best stories he'd heard, especially when I told him how much I got for it.... I'm not posting the final ebay amount here cos I'm embarassed

Amazing condition, as they guys have said worth plenty, hope you get the right amount to finance the mini project, which sounds like it is getting more and more involved and expensive

Well done!! I was watching it on eBay and didn't think you would get that much for it.

I'm grinning too because I have a genuine gal body cali moke with 1275 and discs sitting in the shed waiting to be restored. Whats that worth?

I wonder if that was a one off or they are really pulling big money now.
