 Post subject: clutch I think

from my earlier post I think it is the clutch cos everything shudders when I release it and pull away. What should i do next in terms of checking it out ? :?

Clutch shudder is usually a sign of a crap clutch plate, some cheapies are really rubbish. I only use genuine Borg & Beck diaphragms & drive plates in my cars now. They are worth the few bob extra, IMO.
Also, beware of the cheapie Jap made release bearings- they are crap too, I had one die in 3 days. If not `made in UK' I don't buy them. Been caught too many times... :x

Aaaaahh.... now I understand it...

Dont forget that broken engine steadies/rubbers will also give you clutch shudder, due to the engine not being supported properly. The usual culpurit is the rubber on the gear selector extension rear bracket.

Just pays to check it too :wink:
