Found this on a Rotary Site....

Sounds kinda promising..... maybe worth looking into guys ?

Basically, you pour ATF into you plug holes and turn over by hand... leave it a few hours and repeat.... after 24 hours you crank by hand (to prevent Hydraulic lock!!) then fire her up....

WHen the smoke has cleared, most of the carbon and shite should be gently cleansed away........

Maybe worth trying ?

i did the atf treatment on my car and instead of using the small amont i basically filled the **** up with it about 1 litre, seemed to clear the engine up, but boy did it smoke afterwards (for about 30 mins), luckily i live in and industrial estate and no one called the cops

By the way....this is for chicken cooker motors.....surely it would be different for A series motors?!?

OK James...you try it....and if it works, I will think about doing it....

Sounds to me like it aids rotor seals....I think the water down carb trick might be better for cleaning and de-cokeing....

There's also a rumour on MM site and elsewhere that you can use ATF as a lead replacement additive.
crap it might be as versatile as Coca Cola...

My brother got his motor reconed about 6 months ago and was told to do this and run it on premium ulp. It has more power, runs cooler and cleaner with out any problems.

Oh man, if I did that to my mini, my old Italian neighbours would chuck the hugest sad at me! LOL! They hate my car as is ("It'sa too loud, shutta the f*** up!"), let alone with smoke billowing out of it for a while...

I think it does work, but to what extent...

I had a JB Camira that burnt more oil than Saddam did after the first Gulf War.

Ultratune said put some Wynns Oil change down the spark plug holes. They said that it would dissolve the carboned up pistons and free up the rings. Damn crap box was worse than ever. Traded that baby in the next week.

doesn't a lot of crud (for lack of a better word) help seal piston rings? I have heard that those oil flush treatments remove the deposits that seal rings, and you end up with a car that either blows more smoke, or blows smoke when it didn't before..... :?

Dead right.
That's why you don't scrape the `carbon ring' off the edge of the pistons in an old motor, when you give it a valve job.
