I had the mechanics at work replace the rubber uni's on my Mini today. (luckily the mech boss used to have a mini when he was younger and thus is more than eager to volunteer his troops) They said the pax side literally fell apart as soon as they loosened the 3 remaining U bolts. One rubber piece was completely missing and the wear on the knuckles is somewhat concerning. Found one piece of the U bolts just sitting on the subframe.

I'm just glad I had it done before going to Lithgow, would have been awful ugly otherwise....

Oil leaks kill the rubber... :x
You can get Nylon capped ones with needle rollers in them, they last much longer.

The rubber collapsed and wore thru, then all there is are the U bolts and centre cross... :x
Another thing to watch is the worn rubbers can rub on the gearbox casing and wear thru it!

I have been told that if you do not keep a good check on them and let them go like the ones you had. They can wind up flying through the gear Box and making a mess.

My Father has them on his 1310 for 5 or so years now and Never had a prob.

I was told that bu my local Mini Man.??????
