yep the red clubbie in gafmos post has a sunshine
roof, they were called the Autosun Sportsroof and were
made and designed by Auto Sun and Air....fitted
by leyland, winnner of an Australian design awaed
too!! they slid on external stainless steel rails and sealed
by a inflatable rubber connected to the inlet manifold to
keep you free from water leakes and the tinted
reflective strengthened glass kept some of the heat out
(well thats what they say on the ad's  ) dont
know if that helps, but i will bore anyone with Sunshine
details if i get the chance!

Officer, I HAVE to drive this fast to keep my car watertight.

That does sound like an excellent idea, I wonder how well and/or long it worked for.

I know there is a company here in Mitcham (Melb) which fits and supplies Webasto sun roofs. They have the electric version and they are around the $1800 price mark. Come in several colours. We saw them one year at the Melbourne Motor Show.

A friend of mine has used this company several times with excellent results.'

I actually have an older version Webasto roof (manual not electric) which is still in the box never used which I had thought about putting in mutant in the beginning but changed my mind. May use it one day.

There was a Webasto roof for sale at the Brisbane show held at the Mini Owners Club Of Qld. last June (2004). Apparently he had been trying to sell it for a while so someone from up there should probably know who it was. Looked brand new in a box I think from memory.

Years back I had a pop up sunroof fitted to a Torana. I watched the guy fit it. First he marked the centre of the roof, and drilled a hole. Then he placed a template on the roof and traced around it. Then he used a snipper, and started from the centre...working towards the marked outline...and cut the hole. Then he cut the head lining to the same size hole.

He put a bead of sealant around the hole, placed the frame onto it, then from inside the car he screwed the other half of the frame into the top half. 8) Hey presto! A sunroof. The glass just fits into the frame, and can pop up or be taken right out. It was pretty cool....I liked it.

Cost about $220 from memory...but that is going back over 10 years.

I just found the guy in the yellow pages.
