Im with oz if the body is neat, spray it a bright colour and put some seat covers on it and sell it as a good first car.

Or paint it in a traditional scheme and have old farts come nitpick at non original or customised bits.

Id keep the flip front on there, its not a small conversion surely.
If you wanna get rid of it dont throw heaps of money at it coz you wont get it back.

well there's a twist in the plot now!

it turns out the insurance company is paying me a cash settlement.
so i'm getting a $1350 check($1650 - $300 excess).
I can do whatever i so please with the money. so effectively the whole $2k i'd spend on repairing is all my money. Which im not prepared to do.
I've spoken to the crash repair guy, my cars almost been completely rewired, and it turned out to be my key ignition barrel. SO, he's mulling it over today/tomorrow a cheaper way to fix up the car to be able to sell.

The most likely plan:
Get the crash repairer to fix it the non-insurance way.
Finish the backseats
Start and finish the doorcards
Replace the ball joints / rear wheel bearing.
and sell

as much as i would like to, i can't have a mini as a daily driver at the moment.
it's costing me too much $$.
Fortunately for someone else i've already spent alot of money on ALOT of the mechanicals of the car, so they don't have to. Unfortunately for me my work want me to have something more reliable. And so do i for the time being.

I will probably pick up a mini in a years time or so and start to work on that. I've far from given up the bug

Well I'm sorry to hear that. As you say finances come out on top of hobbies unfortunately. Oh well you'll have plenty of time to save up for your next project while your driving around in that nice cheap reliable whatever you decide to buy.

I hope it doesn't take too long
