It doesn't, but how often are you really going to be going the same speed? If you have the power you will use it, not saying you'll speed, but you'll naturally be going faster everywhere than you would with a 998 without even thinking about it...

I think with more power and torque you accelerate at a more rapid pace. So in traffic, from a standing start, you will get up to speed quicker with a 1275...so even though you might be doing the same TOP speed, you will be accelerating harder and thus need more breaking power to slow you, should you need to slam on the anchors....

Yeah extactly, even though your still cruising around at 60, your average speed will increase.

it's like AUTOS and MANUALS....you have to break harder in an AUTO, even if doing the same speed as a manual.

I have been through quite a few disc rotors in my dog box auto wagon from braking hard all the time. :?

Now your just spamming and going off on a tangent  :P

I don't see how you brought autos into this..yes you do brake more in the auto cause it's supplying constant power to the wheels...AUTO's and MANUALS do not relate to 998's and 1275's! :P

....the 1275 would be like the auto (need more braking power) and the 998 would be like the manual.....get it??

Ok i get it, it's the same thing with auto's and manuals, auto's need/use more braking than manuals..but they're not like auto's and manual's in that the reason behind the need for the bigger and better brakes are different...

   @ Iwannamini and his "smart
comment, im not going to even bite as i know
in my heart that clubmans are soooo much better
than round noses and their sharp lines at the
front help it to slice through the air, as opposed to
round nose grunters that have the worst aero dynamics
ever....... so clubbies are faster

and my car will pull up allright i will be more sensible,
and properly adjusted drums stop very well, its just they
have the tendancy to fade more, if adjusted well they
will pull me up fine and therefore i will not smack into
anything (i hope)... i look at it this way, for the first two months
of owning viv, i was driving her with THE worst brakes ever
(anton you drove her they were almost non existent) and i never
smashed into anyhting, so with brakes that work, i will be fine, it
is lovely only haeing to push the pedal once!!!

Hey Chris...what did the 1275 in Elmo come from? Have you seen my thread about engine numbers?

its actually a know fact that rounld noses have better areo beouse the air doesnt just hit a flat wall e.g. clubman.
But chris and anton after seeing both of ur restoration projects i must say that i now have an equil appretiation for both cars!!!!!!!!
