Yep...Oil Pressure Relief Valve...a cylinder of metal and a spring. If you can't find it it, buy or just look for another...

Winner winner ! I don't know why I feel like there is another oil pressure relief valve (like behind the filter head?) but I assume there is only one. Off to the shops I go!

Cheers

Overhauled a VH44 in January, parts were around $150. Installed in car working fine. Have another VH44 to do, it's dismantled, just needs reassembly.
You should do a "how to"

Just followed the Leyland Australia Workshop Manual. Also the local brake specialist is an excellent knowledge source, he also had in stock all of the necessary replaceable parts for a VH44.

Made a fitting so i could use a pressure bleeder, bled the brakes - first time it's had a good pedal since i built it 12 months ago
Fixed timing cover leak for the fifth time (seems good now)
Fixed speedo drive oil leak
Fiddled with the weber some more, got it to idle properly

Ran out of fuel driving past the local shopping carpark. Once I realized what had happened, jumped out the moving car and used the momentum to push the car through a roundabout and straight into a nearby parking bay - much to the amusement of onlookers. Wife had to drop a small jerry can off, which happen to have cup worth of petrol - enough to get me to the petrol station to fill up. Time to get the fuel gauge fixed...

Fixed my heater.....the car was getting slightly warm (another story) and tried the old "turn the heater on" trick to cool the motor. Couldn't move the flap lever and it was totally jammed off so no air coming through.

Note to self : don't jam demister hoses in so far! Duh......

I finally succeeded at my third attempt to pump up the driver's side hydrolastic. I tried the methods suggested on the austinamerica website; the greasegun/grease nipple method leaked everywhere, the greasegun/tractor tyre water filler method leaked when the car was on the ground. I tightened all of the connections and jacked up the drivers side and it filled easily; too easily. The car was now too high on the driver's side.
Don't just poke a nail into the valve. It squirts everywhere; guess how I know. I then drilled a small hole about 20mm from the end of a plastic tube and pushed the nail though. With the tube over the end of the hydro pipe I could push in the nail and direct the fluid down into a bottle till the car was balanced. Hope the fluid isn't too toxic. Happy to answer Q's

Carpet set finally fitted today. Was waiting for new heel mat, didn't happen, had to use old original one.
Also found carpet clip set which I removed from the original carpets 30 years ago, knew it would come in handy one day.

Two weeks ago, after an 8 year labour-of-love, I finally got my car registered and on the road.

Today at 2019 Tasmanian Minifest I was stoked to receive a couple of gongs for the effort.

I gave the old girl a service and noticed that CV boots have decided to perish at the same time.

Never mind, I have ordered a new pair, and it will give me an opportunity to put the disc breaks onto the bench and give the ball joints a going over as well as a good clean up beneath the arches while I am there.

I hooked up vacuum advance from my Mikuni vac port. Looks to be manifold vac signal as am getting 16deg extra advance at idle.
Should have done it sooner, idle is smoother, cruise runs cooler, transition is better.
Now have 35-38deg advance at idle and it loves it!

(this is on an sc12 supercharged engine)
