PCV Valve Positive Crankcase Ventilation

It allows air to circulate through the engine otherwise it would restrict the passage of oil.
/edit Sorry the breather does that

The PCV valve is there so that it takes positive air pressure to open the valve so that you can hook the ventilation up to your inlet manifold and not have a vacumn leak. Alternatively you can hook the pipe up to the back of your air filter. The one on my unregistered mini at home is not connected at the moment but it pours out quite a bit of smoke and stuff so maybe it is better to leave it connected ? so saying my carbie is running very rich so this may have something to do with it (unburnt fuel) . Weber with the wrong jets and I want do some more stuff to the motor before I get it jetted properly.
