Looking for support to hold an annual 850 get together. As we are 850 lovers, and they did start all this Mini stuff.

The idea is to get as many 850 (yma2s1) together in the one place. They can be in any state or form, just as they started out as a YMA2S1.

Possible date 14/11/10, at Ancona (near Mansfield Vic). BYO BBQ lunch.

Would we be standing in the middle of the paddock on our own if we went ahead with this????

We are looking for people that may be interested in coming, or anyone that has any thoughts or ideas to add to this.

Younger Mini's can come and look as well.

Telling him to talk to himself? I think that might make people stay away rather than join him :D

Someone was talking about doing this at the NSW Mini 50 (Watto's)

There was even talk of a Saxon Green only line up! :P

This is not to put the kabosh on the idea, but if there was a Cooper-only get together, would people think it was elitist?

What if you would like to go to a Mini event in the country but don't have the appropriate model?

Food for thought perhaps?

On the other hand, the Falcon GT people have recently established the XR GT National gathering, and had about a dozen XR GTs at their first event. But, then, I have my own opinion of the Falcon GT fraternity (not for publication).

Cheers,
Watto.

O well we must have bought them all!!   As we have not received a response from one 850 owner, (now we know why Simon said to contact Flapper).

(Responding to Watto)
The original thought was it would be nice to get 10-15 round noses in a row for Photo's.

As most group mini photo's look crap with 6 round noses, 4 clubmans, a couple of bmw and a rover.

To avoid criticism of inviting only round nose as we know that clubman owners would get there noses out of joint if we did this, we thought that we would make it 850's only. Which would exclude some of ours.

But it seems to be a waist of time, because there are no 850 owners interested out there, as the postings have shown.

Frednutz also received silence at the Mini meeting the other night.

It is very hard to get those Mini's out of the sheds.

Just advertise it as a photo shoot rather than a club type thing.
A good camera man and a decent setting would produce photo's that have historical interest/value in time.
And in a years time you will probably want to do it again.

This another example of why you have to have a divided section 850 Mini Show - any 850 original or modified - free entry, all other makes models derivatives $8.50 a vehicle . The 850 section has judging, 850 only trade stalls etc and is divided off, all other vehicles are in a separate mixed display area with no judging or trade stalls. Doing it like this means the total focus is on 850's and no ones nose is out of joint as they are " included " but not ignored

.

Greetings all.
I like the idea, but I'm desperatly trying to get my 850 to the Mini's at the mill in Birdwood on Nov 14th. I'de certainly be interested next year if (1) I get this thing running good, and (2) Victoria's within reach from Adelaide.
Cheers Alex.
