Who has fitted retractable belts to the rear of their Mini? How did you do it and do you need to get it engineered?

I dislike the way rear Clubby belts are mounted. Not very child safe! My K has better mounted Britax rear belts. They are static though......

Never seen them, though that means zilch. YES to engineering them (all safety items must be).

Think about mounting the retractors in the centre and the buckle at the outside, might make it easier to do, might be more kiddie friendly.

I'm interested in this too. Having retractable rear 'belts would make my car faster, especially if I chromed them up. Less wind resistance. Add 5 HP.

Seriously though, I am interested too. Ha ha! Surely someone has done this...

weld a piece of metal on the rear parcel self (take wood out first  )
in each corner or where ever ur putting them this will add extra strength so the belts actually hold u then just drill a hole and bolt away

and i think it bolts to the original seat belt hole on the bottomso that is the only mods u have to do the rest just goes in normally

A while back, someone posted you could use Toyota rears with the reels on the shelf.
Sounds good to me!

was it toyota or Gemini retractable belts?

I am picturing bolting the reel to the rear parcel shelf, but on the side, not the middle.

You can buy rear retractables from Repco, Bursons and the like.

You can also use Rover Mini ones.
