Can anyone recommend an engine stand which will bolt a mini engine on it nicely?

Yes, workbenches do wonders, but it might be hard to find a clean one, so it's just easier to get another, but then you have to clear out a place on the floor, which it too hard to get around, so just extend the garage, but the......
Supercrap might have something though, or if you can use a welder, make your own, then put big wheels and a sound system in it..

from what i gather.. people generally modify a standard engine stand to hang the engine/box assemby off..

I modified my toolmac stand using a mini alternator bracket and welding on a length of pipe. Good for engine blocks and maybe cranks but doubtful about a full engine and gearbox.

If you bolt a plate on the oil filter boss, then weld a pipe up to it, it'll hold a gear box too, no problem!

yeah, I hadn't forgotten you mentioned that when you were 'round. I my try that before it gets to the re-assembly stage. Would take two people to spin it around after fitting the gearbox on I would imagine.

What's going to be my best solution for having an easily accessable and movable engine/gearbox in my garage?

On another forum, someone mentioned this option (although I am not condoning it).

Steal a supermarket trolley, cut the basket off it and just use the base and handle (may have to put some plywood on the base to support the gearbox).

Although it's not an engine stand, it does make storage and moving it around a cinch.

Nah, no good. You would end up with an engine stand that wobbled, wants to keep going around in a circle or you have to push really hard.

They don't buckle 3mm steel

One of those pov pack sack truck things will do the job for getting it around. Just over inflate the tires, but not too much.
