ok guys im just about finished with everything with the gti conversion, motor is going, i have finally managed to make a bracket and clutch arm, now i have a clutch :D

i have one cv at the moment, and all i need is brakes, now i bought a dual circuit master cyl and proportioning valveoff cazmo a few weekends ago, had to send them away, prop valve was seized, but was only $433 later  but thats all resleeved and kitted, and they even painted them to! the top secion of the MS was also seized, had to get that sent away aswell, but at least everything is new now :? the only problem i have is i dont know which hole goes where, theres the 2 on the MS, and i think 4 on the prop valve.

i have a brand new, well reco'd VH44 booster, which i have to plumb in also.. has anyone got any pics of the setups? which pipe goes where etc? and is there is a brake line going to each rear wheel also?? looks like ill need to do something about that to!

thanks in advance!

$433  i didnt even fit the proportioning valve on mine,, run one line from the master to your vh44, then run that line from it to a T piece, then run them 2 to the front calipers...

The other line runs thru a brake light switch then to the rear brake line.

Brad, are you sure you have not got a standard pressure limiting valve on the rear subframe? They were on early Clubbies, like yours.

I know you have 5/8" S rear wheel cylinders now, but, without a limiting valve or balance valve of some sort, there's no way the rears won't lock up..

crap mate thats not cheap,, my master cost $50 to reco, the kit to do it yourself is $25. As for the proportioning valve i wouldnt have a clue what they are worth to reco, but $270 sounds a heap of cash,,,, What model clubman do you have?? as kev said the early 72,73 models had a pressure limiting valve at the rear.

IIRC the late model dual line master cylinders were worth a fortune to kit even when new, being a far different proposition to the earlier cylinders. I think when new, the kit was nearly a hundred dollars. Resleeving any master cylinder in SS will cost at least $100. I don't think the cost is ridiculous.

That late model brake brake valve doesn`t "limit" anything,,,it`s simply a safety valve,,,the floating piston will sense a leak or a problem in the system & shut that side of it off,,,that`s all,,,it won`t "limit" brake pressure at all.

the smaller rear cyls are all that`s needed as the rear section of the master cyl is sized to suit.

the early "single" systems did use a limit valve tho, mounted on the rear subfram & also acted as the "T" piece as well...late minis just had the "T" piece fitted in that same place.

& the later tandem system mokes went to an "inertia" type valve mounted on the drivers side of the rear subframe
