Can you use a PBR VH40 brake booster in a mini ?
l know the correct booster for the mini is a PBR VH44.

a brake booster doesn`t make your brakes work better,,,it`s job is simply to relieve pedal pressure,,,so,,,do you find your brake pedal too hard to push???

no,,,didn`t think so,,,i don`t believe you`d be needing a booster then hey?

no,,,guess not,,,well,,,i`ve just saved you a heap of money & time & effort buying something that`s of no use to you, & even if you did buy it & fit it,,, then you`d find out that it costs more money to repair,,,is also in the way when timing the ignition & adjusting the clutch,,,well,,,lucky you didn`t buy it & fit it then hey?,,,cause then you`d have a very high possability of locking your brakes in a panic situation in the wet weather, thank god you didn`t buy it & fit it then hey?

you might have picked up that i feel that boosters are pretty dam usless waste of time , money & effort in a mini

here here I couldnt have put it better myself. Space is at a premium in a Mini engine bay and there are better things to fill that gap with

I am not going to install one in my mini. I was just curious if a VH40 would work.
I am quite satisfied with my non assisted metro 4 pot ventilated disc setup.

Wouldn't have thought there would be a problem, provided you can mount it properly, brake fluid goes in and out and you have vacuum, then a booster is a booster is a booster. I was under the impression the only difference was size (hence the amount of assistance).

i have a booster and was toying with the idea of fitting it, but after driving Pops with drums all round, I don't mind the non boosted brake feel.....

I agree on the space issue...they take up a lot of room!

I hate the damn things. I drove an old excel once where the brakes were so over boosted (had a dinner plate booster) that I breathed out a bit too deeply and applied the brakes by accident

But, your car (9.1" Hondas) would be safer in an emergency if it didn't have it. You've just got to breathe on the pedal.. It's either GO or STOP QUICK!

I may consider getting rid of it..i find in an emergency, yes I lock up initially for a brief sec, but i very quickly release a little and can hold it at the limit quite well. On the track I had not probs modulating the pedal and it had pretty good feel...

Booster is awesome in traffic, and my pedal is still hard and not spongy...

I'm up for offer's on anyone who has 9" disks without a servo that's willing to let me have a drive to change my mind..may be easier than 7.5"'ers..

I don't like the feel of 7.5" disks without a servo...Too much effort to stop the car!

I have 7.5" unservo'd discs and I have absolutely no dramas pulling it up nice and quick when some idiot pulls out in front of me. And I'm not exactly a big bloke

Whats more, I can hold the brakes just off locking with ease - but I can lock them up if I try, I like to sometimes just to scare the locals.
