Hey try the Jap importers for an older vintage wreck. The parts will be 40 years newer then a mini and you can probably fit other jap parts to it instead of going from Imperial to metric all the time. Price wise it all the same.

Minis and good at being Minis, BMW's arn't hehe

Or maybe both.

I wouldve thought that mini gear would be a bit too heavy/sluggish for off roading... or maybe it isnt... depends on what you plan on building I guess.

If for off road I'd stick the Mini motor in the back, much better traction.
 Go buy a Manx dune buggy if you can find one.. then take a VW donk & work it to the max... lovely!
Anybody remember Peter Holinger's supercharged VW hillclimb special? That thing was MAD! :P

My mate used to have a VW buggy when we were kids... Still remember doing hand brake slides on a bush track up at his parents property... Full cage, 2 seater, RWD... Was a beast. Good times...

Would never has guessed I'd have a VW one day back then...

Gaf, glad you were only thinking about it, dont know about eastern laws etc but in the west wouldnt pass scrutineering, has to be a full or 3/4 non-removable chassis vehicle. Safety and all, smallest i seen enter was a young lady in a lil suzuki. Needless to say she got pummelled, even with our stringent rollcage rules she still managed a broken leg. Only time since I have been doing them (5-6yrs now) I seen anyone hurt.

cheers
