A temporary place to store reported dead bodies - :(

Plate sold on Ebay - Seller reported wrecked approx 1990.

May it rest in peace!

What happens if someone lists some numbers here that are not dead? Who is responsible for the accuracy of the data?
For instance how do you really know the story of that ID plate on ebay? (the seller may not be telling the truth, I wonder if that has ever happened before?)
The car could still exist and just be missing the plate. The owner of the car may not like his car ending up on a list of broken up cars.

I can see Poeee getting sued for allowing a thread like this to exist in public.

Yeah, I'm sure your intentions are noble but I don't think this is such a great idea.

I don't think anyone has the right to post other peoples plate info
regardless of the intention.

It would be a great resource for buyers and quite interesting for the train spotters.
I guess it is a little like neighbourhood watch for minis.
I love Cooper S's, like good replicas and really hate fakes.

It is info already in the public domain, it was advertised on Ebay (it does not get much bigger than that!) and published by the owner! There is nothing wrong with publishing something already in the public domain with no copyright. THERE IS NO SECRET!

People say Elvis is alive too, now I have not seen him yet but when I do I will be the first one to stop saying he is dead! But until then, he is dead!

Is a Sports sedan.

Nice eh!

It was built 30 years ago, when an S was just another second hand car.
It is a genuine Cooper S shell, it has no plate.

If the plate surfaces, I want to be able to buy it.

Hopefully it will not have been listed on a dead register

another reason to make these lists public.

that way owners can request changes, the lists can be authoritive, ie can be used to value a vehicle, identify a vehicle, trace a vehicles history.

i dont see a stress in publishing body numbers and engine numbers.

the list could be used by roads and transport, insurance companies, owners and sellers, and so on.

you cant register a number thats already registered. and if a number is known to be deceased by all parties then it cant be rebirthed.

A register is the best way of finding the plate and then it can be matched back to your car. Cars can be removed from the register if they are found to exist. It will also help to establish how many are potentially left between known cars and dead cars. For all you know the plate for your call is still driving around the streets as a clone of itself - this is what can happen when people build fakes with your cars plate.

In my opinion this will be an open thing for people to Re birth cars as Cooper Esses. Would be a great place for them to obtain proper numbers. Then we will have more FAKE Cooper esses with legit numbers.

What owen1975richard is doing is simply reporting history as it comes into the public domain. Like collecting newspapers and putting them into the library. Nothing wrong with that.

A respectable way forward is to insert the word (as the nightly news likes to do to side step around this very real 'legal' issue) 'alledged'.

Or even better - alleged  Very good point GT mowog!

I don't own a Cooper but if you're serious about this, is there an existing Aussie Cooper / Cooper S register? Rather than creating another database...

This is a great thread for anyone wanting to create fake Cooper S's and GTs... Pick a number any number
