So called smog heads were those fitted with air pumps and air injection, from 1976? on. They had 4 holes next to the plugs to inject air into exhaust ports. No the Poms didn't use them, AFAIK- but we got them and so did Canada.

Part numbers are CAM4180 (998) and 12G1316 (1275)

Back on topic-
Re the 12G201 head, measure the inlet valve diameter, that will tell you what `family' it belongs to. 8)

That info on smog heads was pretty interesting, but no its definitely not one of them.

Cheers doc, If I get a chance tomorrow ill pull out the verniers and try take a measurement. Hopefully I wont have any dramas with the exhaust given the thing is still in the car. Well at least it gives me a reason to stick on the extractors :)

The sort of measurement the Doc is talking about is an off the car job, can't be done with the head still on the engine.

True he did say inlet valves  Silly bugger I am. For some reason I had the ports in mind at the time, but they're pretty much standard measurement anyways. Sorry must have been half asleep.
At least the heads come off bloody easy. :)

Nope no ribs - its definitely just an A series.
Didn't have time to rip off the head today but will do so soon.
