you could always go get a drill and put a few holes in the gearbox caseing and then drain it then fill the holes with silastic

You can suck the oil out quicker if the oil is thin, so warm up the oil by lighting a fire under the sump. This will also remove any oil that has leaked under the motor.

Car rental places sometimes use this method....suck the oil out of the sump thru the dipstick tube and force a new charge in just like they do for an auto trans....

I once took a Pontiac Grandam in for a service in the states....the staff apologised because the service took about 15 minutes :!:

No you silly person, you pour the oil in the big hole in the rocker cover,

and then wait for it to come out the dipstick hole...... how else would you know if it was full or not. :D

another tip find another mini owner in advance, who is also doing the same job . then you already have someone to change oil with.. that way you will have enough oil for them and they will have enough oil for you..

I used to drain the oil out of mine, then tip it into my son's Clubbie. It ran on the total loss system- got through about 1L every 200 miles..

Does it have the old type cartridge filter (Ryco R2200P) in a canister, with a bolt in the bottom? You won't find those at SuperCrap...
OTOH, they do keep the Valvoline VO22 spin-on ones (same as Toyota camry V6), but I think they are $11 or so. Too friggin' dear for me. I buy elsewhere, unless they are on special.

I'm more interested in the chilli sauce issue. Any particular brand?

I assume theres an SAE rating on the side of the sauce bottle that I've never noticed :-)

thinking it would make a fantastic marinade.. chilli engine oil. Fantastic for salads, bbq's etc.

cheers

David

Don't bother flushing, does more harm than good. If motor is that dirty, do an oil change, run it 100 miles or so, do another...
If you don't know when filter was last done, do it!
1. Undo bolt and take the can & its contents off.
2. pull the cartridge out and chuck it. There might be a separate metal plate under the cartridge if it's an early one- if so keep the plate.
There are 2 slightly different cartridges (with plate- without plate)- buy the right one to replace it.
3. remove the bolt. Inside the can there]s a spring, flat washer and seal washer. Keep 'em.
4. Wash out the can with degreaser, kero or whatever.
5. Get a small screwdriver and scrape the seal ring out from the filter head. Make sure it's all out, don't damage the groove.
6. Fit new seal ring in there. Comes with the filter cartridge.
7. Put bolt up into can. Fit spring, flat washer, seal washer inside, in that order. Fit plate (if separate) and filter cartridge.
8. Bung it all back onto the filter head, make sure the can sits in the groove, on the seal ring. Tighten the bolt.
9. Change the oil (if not done already).
10. Start the motor and check for leaks.
8)
