I have been looking at this site for some time and it has quite a lot of mini stuff on it. Considering we have a good parity on their dollar it could be worth checking every now and then. Here is a sample...

Chris, yes it's a good site. eBay NZ is a POS, just a tack on to the US site pages. Recommend going to the motors section and searching on 'mini' rather than throught the Austin-Rover section. you'll pick up more items.

Regards
Gavin

What annoys me with trademe.nz is that they all but say "no dogs and aussies" on their front page. They impose a whole range of restrictions on you if youre an Australian. For example you cannot ask sellers questions unless you are an "authenticated' member. This means depositing an unrefundable $10 in advance for your fees which is like a gift to them because as a buyer you do not incurr any fees. Now what is the point of this fascist and unreasonable rule? Wouldnt the site benefit from the buyers being better informed by asking questions? And what is the point of requesting buyers to advance for seller specific fees? Its a nasty, unfair fee collection policy.

So I figured that if they dont want my business, I'll let them concentrate on growing with the booming NZ economy  and I'll keep my money this side of the tasman.

There were some Cooper S disc brakes listed for about $450 they looked horrible but maybe of use to somebody and after reconditioning may be cheaper than buying them in Aust, although if it is anything like ebay they will go to $1000 5 mins before the auction ends

I don't have any figures but suspect it's way cheaper than freight from UK.
Let's face it, from Sydney it's not much different to Hobart, except they use funny munny.

It's a good source of parts, works well and accounts for half of NZ's domestic internet traffic. A lot of companies 'lock out' Trade Me apart from outside office hours as people were always on it. I have 'mini parts' on a keyboard macro and check several times a day. I've bought heaps of tools, a set of Dunlop alloys and various mini parts including a rear cut for my Clubman.

But don't think you Aussies can strip us off all our good cheap parts

It's when you pack something up here in NZ and take it to a nice person who then loads it onto a boat or plane that takes it to Oz>

i thought you guys would have been allowed on the site to buy, its pathetic knowing that you cant.
but hey all you have to do is ask a local who can do it for you.
shipping is not that cheap from here to oz and takes a long time to get here or there if sent by cheapo mail.

They can - to register you must have an address in NZ or Aus. Unsure of the not being able to ask questions unless you are in NZ though, but if enough of you complain about it, they may change the rule. Sh1t, every auction that completes, they make money, so it is in their interests to have as many bidders as possible.
