About 12 years ago i got run off the road going about 80, hit a foot high semi sloping gutter. When i landed the engine was still going so I turned it off got out of the car still shaking and saw a football sized hole in the gearbox. When we picked the car up we measured from the gutter to the big divot and it was 13 metres. The car was never the same after that even after trying to straighten it it still crabbed along the road.

Minis have a teriffic advantage in non-head on accidents in their weight. A mate of mine told me about how when he was a kid, he was in the back of a mini that pulled out into traffic and got hit in the side by a car doing 80k's, he was on the side that took the impact and only got a sore head. The car that hit them simply pushed the mini along the road....

here's what I hit last year

and what it did to my mini doing about 60

the commodore was pretty much stopped when I hit it tail first. The amount of impact absorbed by the rear firewall and seat base was amazing - remove them from a car at your peril!
