I have been investigating the process of soda blasting and thought i would give this a trial. My biggest hurdle was trying to get a decent amount of the Bi-carbonate soda at a reasonable price I was being quoted $73.70 + delivery for 20KG. So after much searching i have found this company

I now have 50kg in my hot little hands and will be giving it a red hot go.
wish me luck.

Let us know how you go! I've got a carby and a few other things that could do with a clean... bicarb that cheap I might consider it!

Aussie Brian,

are you using the diy blaster?

i've had a go and it's not too bad, but mine needs some fine tuning.

let us know how you go (my vegie patch looked like it had snowed for a week after doing a baking tray for SWMBO - it's pretty messy, dread to think what the neighbours thought was going on!)

Not able to help with the blasting side of things at all, sorry, but that is cheap bi carb. i get the equivalent bags for pool buffer and best i have done in last two years is $33 at irrigation supply shop and food wholesalers and normally anywhere from 42 - to 52 in pool type shops Now if only they were in Cairns

Just be mindful that when you try and blast anything that is a bit, let's say spongey i.e. silicone, tar, sikaflex, baked on grease... the medium does tend to just bounce off rather than remove it. therefore you need to do some removal by other methods first just to help the process along.

No I have a small gun that i bought from Burwell abrasives years ago, important thing is you need a kick ar$e compressor to do anything major that is why i bought a big rotary screw jobbie when i replaced the old one.
