I'm pretty sure chicm on MM board tried 4 injectors, couldn't make it work. And he really did try.
I think the A series might have been the last engine with siamesed ports, I can't think of any recent ones.
Why didn't they put the bloody pushrods on the RH side, like they did with the C series.. yeah I know- bloody thing dates from 1953...!

You'll be waiting a few months for this one, at least !!

Slightly OT, but I'm curious!

Wot secret datto head project is this? :o C'mon spill the beans!

Someone parks a BMW K75 motorbike outside my work every morning - the model with the twin cam head that can be modded to fit an A series. I may have to take a socket set to work one day and..... (no, not really!)

Cheers,

You need a K100 head, not a K75- it's one cylinder short....!

One day I'll set a 940 head up on the mill, bore 4 inlet ports in the plug side of head, fit tubes in 'em, braze 'em in and hang on a pair of Dellortos.. :P

Have a look at http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3890&highlight=marcel

I proposed something there using two injectors only (there is not a lot of room to mount two injectors per port on a single fuel rail) it might work who knows but I wouldn't mind being proven wrong. :D

The other solution I can think of involves my other idea which was use the A series exhaust ports as inlet ports and inlet ports as exhaust ports. Yes this does mean you need to make a new cam but you might just get better breathing and the sharing on the middle exhaust port (now an inlet port) is of the pattern "suck wait suck wait" where as previously it was "suck suck wait wait" so the sharing is less like to interfer with each other and produce charge stealing. :D

However the more I think about this one sometimes I get headaches cos ther might be quite a bit to change but you could also put either 3 carbs or 2 dellortos/webbers on it and actually use the second throat of them

 You gimme headache :?

After looking at this and the BMW K1 head mod, it would be easier to use the BMW fuel injection system off the bike.

Or better still, start over & use a 4efte

Down horizontal and in from the side, like on the Elder 8 port.
But.... I've had a good look at this and concluded it's not really possible with a 5 port head.
Save your money for an Elder 8 port. According to my spy with the flowbench they flow real well now, much better than the current Arden 8 ports do.

And FFS, don't blow $13.5K on a KAD twin cam 16V. It's a waste of $$$$$.

Yer, the Beemer K1 head is a lot more practical I reckon. A fair bit of work but you get twin cam and four values per cylinder for that so it gives you a better base to work from rather than spending lotsa money on mini parts.

I think the only reason I could bring myself to get rid of the mini engine would be so I can have an AWD mini

Yeah I was thinking the 5 port head would be a bit "busy" getting those ports in the front. I reckon $ for $ the bimmer head is the go. Maybe not for everyone but I like it. But hey, I don't even have a mini
