Hi Phill

I have been watching to see what the out come is on this post and at this point I would have to agree with Brett.
I have been down the same road with the new rubber trim. The doors will close and I used silacon on the rubber to help but it is still too much pressure on the door to allow it to close as it should.
I was lucky to find new old stock, Pinch weld and rubber and the difference is that you can close the door with ease using the door handle.
The Rubber has to be thinner than the new rubber shown in your photo's but of the same mould to fit the pinch weld.
Measure the sample I sent you to compared to the new rubber and you will find it is that 1mm to 2mm thicker.
Maybe finding a manufacture is the only answer for a group purchase.

Regards Pete.

Yes frustrating because the shape is pretty much correct but just too thick.

I guess if you want the original appearance you could try also try grey/silver vinyl spray on the pinch weld part of the modern all-in-one seal...

I think Brett tried this too. Is that right Brett?

Hi Guys,

Like Phil B, I too went on the pilgrimage to Spectrum rubber at Penrith with no joy :?

Received this profile in the mail yesterday. Had to order 7m sight unseen (leap of faith) over the internet as postage for 1m was almost twice the price of the rubber itself.

Haven't fitted to the car yet to test but it sure is not as bulky as the other stuff from Spectrum. Original old worn sample on the left, new stock on the right...It just might work  Will report back after the weekend.

Freddo hasn't been on the forum for 18 months. I've just sent an email so hope he gets it and responds.

Resurrecting an old thread.

Efforts are underway to have a local rubber seal manufacturer remake the original Australian wind-up window door seal to factory specification.

Currently the only new seals available to fit these cars is combined seal and pinch-weld vulcanised together as fitted by the factory to later Clubman/Leyland Minis. From a practical point of view these seals apparently do the job but are not appropriate for owners of earlier cars doing a sympathetic restoration and demanding originality.

I'm trying to gauge what interest there is in such a product since initial tooling and manufacturing costs need to be assessed against likely sales volume.

Are you a potential purchaser of such a seal? If so, what quantity (number of cars) would you need?

This is what the current vulcanised seal looks like.

I’m certainly in and would be looking at at least 4 sets. What are the thoughts on colour? Just black or the original colours?
