Should the clevis pin be installed with the 'flange' end to the center and the R clip to the outside. Or the other way round? Exploded diagrams show the flange end to the center of the pedals.

I don't see how it would matter, but I have mine push in from the passenger side and the R clip on the inside, easier to fit. |

I've always had the flanges point outwards - with the cotter pins both on the 'insides'. Hope that helps. Cheers. |

I pulled both of mine out today and both cotter pins were on the inside (first time I have pulled it apart) |

definitely easier to have the R clip on the inside, I have ground a small amount off the R clip to prevent fouling. As the clip rotates when the pedal is applied and released. HTB grease will slow this rotating. |

I use split pins instead of R clips, they have less chance of falling out. Master cylinder clevis pins don't scare me. |

I think the issue with the R pins 'falling out' is if they can foul on the master cylinder mount. If you push the pedal in and the pin is pointing upwards, it can push the pin off. I can only see this being a problem if your brakes have a lot of travel though, which means you have other problems. Suffice to say, the first time I went to take of my R clip, I found it under the carpet and there was nothing but rust holding the clevis pin in place. |

I have had an R clip fall out, I only use split pins now. I'd rather be safe than sorry. |

Use a small keyring - can't fall out from its own accord, but removable without pliers if you're skilled! |
