Howdy all,

I have just bought a 1380 motor from the UK into Aus and the block has been decked as part of being rebuilt...there is where the problem is. The engine number was removed when it was decked and the person I bought the motor from is not responding to me which is making life difficult. :(

Does anybody know what process is involved in getting a new engine number here in Australia? I am on the Gold Coast in Queensland. Would love any help.

Cheers,
Nathan

UK motors all had a metal tag and no numbers stamped on the block, the stamping is an Australian thing. New motors bought here as spares had no stamped numbers on either. I bought two from BMC, years ago.
In NSW you used to go to the police with the block and a receipt for it, they would allocate a Police number and direct you where to get it stamped.

Number code in your case would be Q15****P, where 15 is year and **** is allocated number. P= da Fuzz. :)
