Hi all,

I've only just found this website today.. I'm from Melbourne Victoria, have owned and loved 2 Mini's in my young life.

My first car was a 1967 Cooper S, modded heavily... too much infact that the car had lots of problems...it was built to race, not to cruise the streeets of Melbourne in peak hour! Ah the rush of the first Mini eh?

My second and current Mini is a 1971 Leyland Mini Clubman.. pretty authentic and genuine. Not modified except for ignition and radiator. (Both humble Mini lifesavers). It's the perfect car!

I long for the day where I can spend more time with my Mini..!

Mick here from Canberra but spent over 20 years in Syd-n-ey, my first car was a second hand Deluxe (1966) purchased in 1967 and I nearly drove the bloody wheels off it! For example, Sydney to Cairns return in a Mini is not for the impatient. Engine number was 9YATAH/17446 hence my forum handle (had to think of something quick!).

I had learned to drive in a 1956 FJ Special Sedan and had mastered final oversteer. Understeer was a whole new world, pressing harder on the go pedal to straighten the front end you have just lost is not for the faint hearted. But bought another Mini later as a something to get me around when I was not riding Motorbikes.

Interests include Motorsport (go the Minis!)

Looking for a roundnose as a project, have seen many I might like to have had but circumstances (lack of money) or something else got in the way. Famous for rescuing an 850 from a paddock!! (ex Fred Daley)

This is a great forum, hope it goes forever, Cheers to All

PS sorry Pommie Shiela, I'm taken!!

Hi I'm James. I'm in the New Zealand Navy. I currently have a Mk 1 which is in the middle of a full rebuild. It's the third mini I've owned. My first car was a Mk3 Austin Mini 1000 then a few years ago I had a Clubman. Neither was in very good nick but were good enough to get me hooked and resulted in my current obsession.

My wife wasn't keen but is changing her mind as she gets more involved in the build.

Have just sent the body away to be bead blasted. Have a Metro motor that has been bored out to .020 over sized with a mild cam grind. The head has had the ports ground and am planning on opening it up a bit more. Have a webber to hang off it aswell as a Asin supercharger. Am aproching the problem of hanging Metro hubs under the arches at the moment.

Can't wait to get it together so I can post some pics.

Hi All, The names Hugh.

Having had a '76 Clubbie Van (purchased new) and driving it into the ground in my teenage years, I always wanted another one. Well here we are about 30 years later and I figure if I don't do something about it soon, it'll be too late.

Current ride - '72 Clubbie Van. Very original 1100 (even has the original logbook) if a little worn in the mechanicals. Plan to do a rolling custom resto over about 5 years, do all those things I didn't have the money for back then, ending up with a warmish, fun, week-ender. Possibly a little hill climbing latter if all goes well.

Great to see so many Van lovers

Cheers WhoDat

Hi there, Stuart here...

I own a 77 clubman with a 1275 A+ engine,
also a 71 clubman that is powered by a Suzuki GTi turbo,
and a 1430 arden crossflow (eight port) with straight cut box in a '63 Cooper S.

Curently in the process of making some subframes to fit a GTi engine into other Mini's, used to work on a race car that toured at Lakside Raceway in QLD.

they will come with an approved frame, the mounts, and the driveshafts......also with a legal camber modifaction.
An estimate on the kit prices will be around $2500.

Saw your signature....... I have 10.8inch disks under a set of 13's :o

I am running commodore vb cradles with vk callipers, and 6cyl commodore disk brakes (or a DB015X - the x meaning a disk with no stud pattern).
I have made a set of brackets to run the calliper on a disk upright.

If you send me an email, I can send you some pics.

The frames will pass in QLD, and the engineer is rather strict, so I imagine that it should pass Australia wide.

The camber pins have been passed by the department of transport in Brisbane, (I have the drawings for them if anyone has engineering troubles when they purchase a frame).
